Challenge
Many of the newer HVAC products rely on cloud services, recurring subscription fees, or proprietary ecosystems. These solutions can introduce ongoing costs, reduce owner control, and create long-term dependencies on third-party providers. Many of the third-party providers do not share the same commitment to reliability that our clients seek.
For a recent project, KSH was tasked with developing a practical solution capable of improving HVAC performance during Houston’s mild spring and autumn seasons while maintaining local control and eliminating the nuisance of subscription requirements.
Solution
KSH designed and developed a custom analog-to-DC signal conversion platform that bridges traditional HVAC control signals with modern monitoring and automation systems. The custom electronics platform was engineered specifically for the application’s electrical requirements and integrated directly into the home’s existing HVAC infrastructure.
The system continuously monitors operating conditions and optimizes equipment behavior during periods when outdoor conditions allow for more efficient operation.
Results
- Improved comfort throughout the home,
- No recurring subscription fees,
- Local operation independent of cloud services,
- Improved HVAC operational efficiency during mild-weather months,
- Integration with existing building systems,
- Custom-engineered hardware tailored to project requirements,
- Greater owner control over system operation and data.
This project demonstrates KSH’s ability to develop purpose-built hardware and software solutions when commercially available products do not adequately address the client’s objectives.
